Joaquin Niemann Yet to Commit to LIV Golf for 2027 Amid League Uncertainty

Joaquin Niemann has confirmed that he has not signed an agreement to compete in LIV Golf for the 2027 season, adding uncertainty to the future of one of the league’s most successful players.

The Chilean golfer made the announcement after finishing tied for 21st at the DP World Tour’s BMW PGA Championship in England. When asked whether he had committed to LIV Golf’s planned 2027 season, Niemann responded, “No, nothing yet.”

Niemann Remains Uncertain About LIV’s Future

Niemann, 27, is the captain of LIV Golf’s Torque GC team and has won nine individual titles since joining the breakaway circuit in 2022. His record makes him an important figure as the league works to establish its next phase.

However, the golfer said he was not involved in a recent player call with LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil. Niemann explained that he had been playing tournaments and did not want to focus on other matters while competing.

Asked about the league’s current situation, he said he had no information to share.

“I have no idea. I mean, I wish to say something, but I have no idea,” Niemann said, according to reports from Reuters and Golf Digest.

LIV Golf Plans Changes for 2027

Niemann’s comments come as LIV Golf faces uncertainty over its financial backing and plans for the 2027 season.

Reports indicate that the league has proposed a 10-event schedule for 2027. Five tournaments would reportedly offer $9.5 million purses, while the other five would feature $5.5 million in prize money.

The proposed changes follow the withdrawal of financial backing from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and the league’s recent bankruptcy filing. These developments have raised questions about LIV Golf’s structure and its ability to secure player commitments for the upcoming season.

Despite his lack of a confirmed agreement, Niemann remains one of the prominent players associated with LIV Golf. His decision could attract attention as the league seeks to finalize its future roster.

Chilean Golfer Plans Three-Month Break

Niemann also revealed that he plans to take approximately three months away from competitive golf.

He intends to spend time in Chile, work on his game and prepare for the next season with his family. His return to competition is expected at the Australian Open in Melbourne in early December.

Niemann won the Australian Open in 2023. He also recorded his best major championship finish this year with a tied seventh-place result at the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.

For now, the golfer’s future remains undecided. His confirmation that he has not signed for 2027 adds another development to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf as the organization prepares for its next season.
